Get the verified badge

The verified badge tells visitors that you can receive mail at your institution. It is part of every plan.

Verify your email

1. Open Settings, then Verified badge.
2. Type your university email in Institution email, for example [email protected], and press Send verification.
3. Open the email we send to that address and follow the link.
4. On the page that opens, press the confirm button.

The link works once and expires in 24 hours. Pressing a button is required on purpose, so a mail program that opens links to check them cannot use it up. If it expires, send a new one from the same page.

Only university addresses are accepted: the part after the @ must end in .edu, or in .edu followed by a country, such as unilag.edu.ng, ug.edu.gh or harvard.edu. Gmail, Yahoo and other personal addresses are refused, and so is any other domain. If your institution uses a different address, write to us from the Contact page and we will add it.

What visitors see

Visitors see "Verified" with the domain only, such as unilag.edu.ng. Your full address is never shown. Where the badge appears depends on the template, and a template may not draw it at all. Preview yours under Templates.

Change or lose the badge

Verifying a different address replaces the old one. Your institution email also appears on your downloadable contact card, but only once it is verified. An administrator can also remove the badge if the address turns out not to belong to you.
