EduProfile

Cookie Policy

What cookies EduProfile sets, why, and how to control them.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. They let a site recognise your browser between page loads, for example to keep you signed in.

The cookies we use

We set only the cookies needed to run EduProfile. They do not track you across other sites, and we do not use them for advertising.

  • Session cookie: keeps you signed in. It is removed when you sign out.
  • Sign-in helper cookies: one ends a sign-in when the browser closes (see below), a few last only a few minutes while a two-step, Google or passkey sign-in is in progress, and one lets us tell you when your account is used from a browser we have not seen before; that one lasts about 13 months unless you forget the browser in Settings or clear your cookies.
  • Security cookies: protect the sign-in form from forged requests and return you to the page you were on.

Visitors to a profile are not given cookies, and profile pages do not need you to sign in.

Browser storage that is not a cookie

Some features keep a small note in your browser’s own storage instead of a cookie. These notes stay in your browser and are not used to follow you around.

  • Light or dark choice on a profile: the theme a visitor picks is kept until they clear their browser data.
  • Counting a visit once: a profile page notes that your visit has been counted, so reloading does not count it twice. It is dropped when you close the tab.
  • Closing a notice: if a profile owner shows a notice at the bottom of their site and you close it, the browser remembers that until you close the tab.
  • Where you came from: if you arrive at our sign-up page from a profile’s “Built with EduProfile” link, the browser remembers which profile until you close the tab, so the owner’s link can be credited.

Remember me on this device

If you tick “Remember me on this device” when signing in, you stay signed in for up to 30 days of use, so you do not have to sign in again. If you leave it unticked, your sign-in ends when you close your browser, or after one day if you keep it open; a second cookie, which the browser drops when it closes, is what ties that sign-in to the open browser. Signing in with Google or creating an account counts as ticked. Do not tick it on a shared or public computer.

Cookies from other companies

  • Google: if you choose “Continue with Google”, Google sets its own cookies on its sign-in pages. See Google’s cookie policy.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile: on sign-up, the booking and comment forms and sign-in after failed attempts, Cloudflare runs a short check in the page that may use browser storage to tell people from automated programs. See Cloudflare’s cookie policy and privacy policy.
  • Cloudflare Web Analytics: on our marketing and sign-up pages, never in your dashboard or on a profile, Cloudflare counts visits without using cookies or identifying visitors. See how it works.
  • Paystack: when you pay, Paystack’s checkout sets its own cookies. See Paystack’s terms and privacy policy.

Controlling cookies

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block the cookies in the section above you will not be able to sign in.
