Search and sharing

When someone finds your site in a search, or you paste your link into WhatsApp, email or a social post, a small preview appears with a title, a line of text and a picture. Search and sharing in your dashboard lets you control it.

What you can change

• The photo. The preview card uses your profile photo, the same one as on Edit Profile. Press Add a photo (or Change photo) to set it. Without a photo the card shows your initials.
• Title and description. The boxes start filled in with what your profile already gives: your name, title and institution, and your tagline. Change them if you want a different line. Leave a box as it is and it keeps following your profile. Use my profile's text puts your own words back.
• Your own picture (Pro). On the Pro plan you can upload a picture made for the preview instead of the generated card.

Keeping your site out of search engines

If you do not want your site to appear in search results, turn on Keep my site out of search engines. It saves on its own. Your site still works for anyone who has the link.

Changes take a while to show

Search engines and social sites keep a copy of a preview, so a new photo or title can take a while to show in a link that has been shared before.
